Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works with NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She was a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She joined NBC News Washington two years following that as a general reporter. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent by 1988. She became Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell is a former panelist and anchor of the TV program Meet the Press. She participated as a member of a panel discussion at the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards in journalism, among them the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began covering the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of notable stories, including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as budget tax reforms and arms control. Mitchell travelled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan many times for summits, and to discuss topics like the Iran Contra scandal.
